Maureen Li, better known as Mli ("Em-Li"), is a self confessed serial entrepreneur with an unconventional business vision and an obsession for high end fashion accessories, particularly handbags.

Disillusioned by the fashion industry's fierce focus on low cost and mass production, Mli sought to reignite the art and passion of creating beautiful, high quality handcrafted handbags. And so, Bagtart was born.

Using world renowned artisans working with the finest and rarest materials, Bagtart designs and markets a range of designer handbags, all individually handcrafted. Mli scours the world in her search for talented craftsmen and exceptional materials, with the result that many of Bagtart's craftsmen have created bags for top international designer labels.

Every bag is handcrafted in Australia and has its own unique characteristics. Inside each bag is a small tag that identifies the name of the artisan, style name and country of origin. Thus, Bagtart's range is truly about limited editions of handbags that are both beautiful and rare. This philosophy is at the heart of Mli's business, and is what sets it apart from mainstream bag makers.

So, why Bagtart, then? As Mli explains, "We are tarts when it comes to bags. One is never enough."
